Bulgaria’s National Children’s Council Supports UNICEF’s Campaign against Child Abuse

Friday, April 25, 2014. The National Children’s Council at Bulgaria’s State Agency for Child Protection (SACP) has supported the campaign of UNICEF Bulgaria against violence against children.

During the session of the Council, SACP Chairwoman Mrs. Eva Jecheva has called upon the representatives of children from around the country to provide support for the campaign against violence undertaken by UNICEF Bulgaria and backed by the Agency.

The session of the Children’s Council was also attended by government officials who expressed support for UNICEF Bulgaria’s initiative: Mr. Hristo Monov, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Children, Youth, and Sports; Mrs. Maya Todorova, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports; Mrs. Rositsa Petrova, Head of the Department on “Rights of Child, People with Disabilities, and Discrimination” at the Administration of the Bulgarian Ombudsman.

The initiative of UNICEF Bulgaria entitled “Make the Invisible Visible” against child abuse aims to provoke the public to recognize abuse and to report cases of violence against children.
