The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Labour and Social Policy - Mr. Ivaylo Kalfin, and the UNICEF Representative in Bulgaria, Ms. Maria Jesus Conde, have signed a two-year advocacy work-plan for the years 2016 and 2017. The document encompasses joint activities in the areas of deinstitutionalization, early childhood development, juvenile justice, inclusive education and encouragement of child participation.

“Through these documents we shall continue the traditionally good partnership between the institutions. UNICEF is an essential partner when it comes to the carrying out of many of the ministry’s policies, directed at the improvement of vulnerable children’s quality of life. There are a lot of successful examples of our collaboration so far. I am convinced that thanks to the signed agreement today, those examples are going to multiply”. This is what Minister Kalfin said after the signing of the work-plan.

The two parties have also signed a Mid-Term review of the Country Program between UNICEF and the Government of the Republic of Bulgaria (2013- 2017). It reflects the current situation of children and women in Bulgaria, the progress and key results from the implementation of the Partnership Program between Bulgaria and the United Nations Children’s Fund.

UNICEF promotes the rights and wellbeing of every child, in everything we do.  Together with our partners, we work in 190 countries and territories to translate that commitment into practical action, focusing special effort on reaching the most vulnerable and excluded children, to the benefit of all children, everywhere.
